FAQ

  • Is The Rally on Maple Sally a race?
    • Our gravel grinder is not designed as a race nor is it sanctioned by any cycle racing organization. The focus is community – ride slow, ride fast, just ride! However, there are prizes!
  • Prizes? What prizes?
    • There will be a raffle at the gravel grinder with some incredible prizes available thanks to our wonderful sponsors! All participants will automatically receive 5 raffle tickets as part of their registration. Additional raffle tickets are available for purchase and are $1 each. A comprehensive list of prizes will be provided once finalized.
  • How much does the ride cost?
    • The registration fee is $75 and includes a post-ride Chicken Pie meal, swag bag, aid station items, and raffle tickets. Unfortunately, we are not able to accomodate dietary restrictions.
  • How do I register?
    • Registration for The Rally on Maple Sally can be found here. Registration opens on 2/7/2022 and will end on 9/24/2022. Registration is online only.
  • Is there a minimum age for riders?
    • No.  However, anyone under the age of 18 will need a waiver signed by the child’s parent or guardian.
  • What if I can’t finish?
    • The ride has no forced drops or cutoffs.  However, if you fall too far behind, it is your responsibility to know your way back to the start.  Please ride within your capabilities and come prepared to service your own equipment as needed.
  • Will the roads be closed to traffic?
    • No.  However, careful planning has gone into the routes to ensure the most enjoyable ride experience possible.  Naturally, the gravel roads will have far less traffic than a normal road ride. Riders must obey all traffic laws and ride on the right side of the road.  All riders must sign a liability waiver. Caution should be exercised throughout the course, especially on loose gravel.
  • Will there be aid stations/pit stops?
    • There will be 2 aid stations available for use along the routes. Each station will have food, water, and basic medical supplies.
  • Will there be mechanics available?
    • We encourage all riders to have an understanding of basic bike repairs.  Each rider should have their own pump and spare tubes.  We will try to obtain volunteer mechanics for the rides but assume no responsibility for the mechanical well-being of your bike.
  • What is the refund policy?
    • No refunds will be given.
  • What happens if it rains?
    • The Rally on Maple Sally will start no matter the weather, within reason.  If the weather is too severe we will do our best to reschedule the event.
  • Do I need a gravel bike to ride?
    • No.  Ride what you want to but please choose your route according to your bike of choice and your capabilities. Tires less than 30mm are not recommended.
  • Are e-bikes allowed?
    • Of course!
  • What equipment is required?
    • All riders are required to wear a properly fitted bike helmet.  Headphones of any kind are not allowed.  Rear flasher lights and headlights are encouraged.
